1987 Honda Civic 1.3 DL 3dr Automatic

The days when if you wanted reliability you had to buy Japanese. A superb Classic from October 1987 . Supplied locally by J Sheppard & Sons, Honda Main Dealer in Hove, Sussex. The Civic has remained locally in Shoreham By Sea, West Sussex, It was always the elderly ladies car playing second fiddle to a larger Honda CRV they also owned from new. Both of which I purchased in 2021 from the couple who are our close neighbours but no longer drive. Knowing both their Hondas for almost 20 years I know just how fastidioulsy the cars have been maintained and cared for. Open the door of this 80's icon Honda Civic and you will see an entirely original and amazingly well preserved light grey interior. The cloth seats show no wear or damage. The rear seats look like they have barely been used despite having been equipped with optional seatbelts when ordered new. The carpets are in an excellent condition throughout, free of any visible stains or signs of wear. The instrument cluster and dashboard is as new with all the various controls and switches operating perfectly The headlining is still in excellent factory condition which is rare to see in older vehicles. At the rear, the hinged glass opens effortlessly and decades later, holds up perfectly when fully open. The original rear shelf folds back to access the boot space below. The grey boot carpet is clean. Beneath the carpet is a hardboard cover for the original spare wheel and tools which are all present.. Overall, the inside of this Honda Civic shows no signs the give the cars age away Study the paintwork closely and you will find only a few very minor imperfections that to be fair do not need to be described and certainly none of which give reason for concern or that require improvement or immediate cost. To be critical, the front plastic bumpers have minor scuff imperfections on both corners, and on inspection we noticed some slight grazing along the factory option plastic side protection mouldings. These are just very minor cosmetic imperfections as expected but takes nothing away from just how fantastic this car is overall. I just prefer to present cars of this category in its full classic genuine entirety The glass is all intact with no chips to the screen and with original security etching to the side glass. The 13 inch factory standard steels wheels with Honda logo centre caps, all in good undamaged condition fitted with with a matching set of very lightly part worn Avons. Looking at the underside, the floor is flat and solid with a good visible covering of the factory underseal applied when built new in 1987. Adjusted to run on unleaded fuel at racing legend John Cooper’s Honda Garage in Ferring, West Sussex in 1988.
